Post-Interview Analysis of My Experience with Mr. Harris

Post-Interview Analysis
Mr. Harris (Interviewee)- Real Estate Wholesaler

The entire interview process was a meaningful experience, because I had the opportunity to get more insight into an interest that I have with someone that has experiences similar to mine. The interview process was also meaningful to me, because of the joy that I got to see being brought to my interviewee about something that he was so passionate about, which made for a pleasurable, genuine interview.
Throughout our conversation, I noticed that Mr. Harris responded well to questions that focused on his craft and growth rather than more general questions, such as questions about school. Some of the questions that I asked received more of an explanation than I anticipated, which allowed me to get more comprehension, and to therefore ask more specific and developed questions proceeding. Some of the questions that I had initially written had to be excluded from the interview based on his responses to prior questions.
Throughout the process, I had also learned that although he does not particularly rely on written communication, he does heavily rely on communication in general. He expressed that he prefers communicating with his clients/partners in-person. Since he has such an outgoing personality that is very personable, some of his responses about wanting to meet in person did not come as a surprise to me. Although he said that he does not do much writing, he still needs the same verbal business skills as he would as if he were business-writing, because he is in a profession where professionalism is required. Again, because he stated that he personally did not do much writing, I still tried give different examples of writing that weren’t as obvious of what he might write, just in case he may have forgotten, such as calculations. Another less obvious form of writing that he does are emails- particularly about meetings and scheduling. He did mention that in real estate wholesaling, that you need to make/ sign contacts. He emphasized contracts because of the fundamental role that they have in wholesaling. Without contracts, you have no legal rights or documentation.
Overall, the interview was helpful in teaching me what to expect and successful ways to communicate in the real estate wholesaling business.
